The Challenge

The problem we set out to solve

At the Gateway Brotherhood Foundation (GBF), our mission is livelihood upliftment, because a stable livelihood is the foundation of a dignified life. Yet in many parts of Pakistan, especially remote and underserved areas, families depend on seasonal work, small farms, or daily wages that barely cover basic needs. Young people and women often have few chances to learn marketable skills, and access to tools, markets, and small capital is limited.

Without a steady income, families struggle to pay for food, health, and education, and talented individuals are forced to leave their communities in search of work. Creating sustainable livelihoods is essential if every community is to share in the country’s growth and build a more inclusive future.

WHAT GBF DID

What was provided

GBF has a genuine concern for the economic wellbeing of the communities it serves, and its mission is to uplift livelihoods by helping people earn a sustainable income from their own skills and resources. GBF works with local communities to provide training, tools, and business support to those who need it most.

Our livelihood initiatives focus on practical, hands-on support that helps youth, women, and families start earning, grow small businesses, and become self-reliant.

Our Initiatives:

Skills training: Vocational and entrepreneurship courses for youth and women, so they gain skills that employers and markets value.

Farmer Training: Equip local farmers with modern, sustainable, and climate-smart farming techniques.

Agricultural Support: Provide guidance, tools, and resources to improve crop production and food security.

Women & Men’s Empowerment: Train women and men in farming practices that increase productivity and household income.

Land Purchase Assistance: Support eligible families in acquiring agricultural land to build sustainable livelihoods.

Sustainable Agriculture: Promote environmentally responsible farming methods that protect natural resources for future generations.

Community Cooperatives: Encourage farmers to work together through cooperatives that improve productivity, market access, and shared success.

Enterprise Development: Help communities establish sustainable agricultural enterprises and small businesses that create jobs and stimulate local economies.

Economic Resilience: Strengthen rural communities by creating stable income opportunities and reducing poverty through agriculture and entrepreneurship.
